Wedding news….

I love shooting weddings, I really do, I feel very privileged to be the one to capture such an amazing day in peoples lives. BUt and there is a but….weddings are a huge amount of work, I like to hand edit every photo, I like to make sure it looks as good as it should and that its a great spread of the day. And that takes time. And what I have found is that the older my kids are getting and the busier the studio is getting, I dont have that time as much anymore. So for a while now Ive felt quite torn over what to do. So Ive decided that even though I have scaled down the amount of weddings that I do, it didnt work, I just cant say no so I ended up with quite a busy wedding season (and who wouldnt want to be a part of all those weddings). But now I am scaling it way way waaaaay back, I need the time to spend with my super-fast-growing children and my busy little studio. I need to make sure I am not at my computer till midnight most nights before my husband forgets he as a wife and I need just step away for a while. I will still be doing a very small handful of weddings this year and next (I have 1 or 2 spaces left) and if that works then I will do the same for the following summer. I have some fantastic colleagues if anyone needs a recommendation of a great photographer for their wedding and who knows where you will see me pop up ;)

And for the photographers out there….knowing that I cant walk away from weddings completely I decided Id still love to be part of the day without the huge workload – yes I want to have my cake and eat it to haha. So thats how the idea for my new little venture came up….The Second Shot. If you need a professional second shooter then The Second Shot is what you need – ahhhh thats me coming and carrying your bags and second shooting for you in case you missed that. I know most of us have our second shooters but we still have times where we do an ekkkk! No second shooter! Or those weddings where we want to absolutely kick ass. So that where I came in to help with the day – umm minus the red cape and my underwear on the outside of my clothes.
